09/13/18 - From the 2018 Elgin Fringe Festival show "Replaced by a Robot" aka "Fear The Accordion" Act II.
I was only doing my job
I was only doing my job
As the profits went up and the wages stayed down
I kept on doing my job
Then one day suddenly
My boss is telling me
You are about to be
Replaced by a robot
Investors want to see
Greater efficiency
And liability
Replaced by a robot
So I went out to look for a job
I went out to look for a job
But the man said “Naw, robots doin’ them all”
When I went out to look for a job
Is this my destiny?
A fate I cannot flee?
I do not wish to be
Replaced by a robot
It’s a calamity
Felt universally
Someday we all will be
Replaced by a robot
Cashier? Robot
Waiter? Robot
Builder? Robot
Maker? Robot
Famer? Robot
Miner? Robot
Soldier? Robot
Driver? Robot
Doctor? Robot
Lawyer? Robot
Teacher? Robot
Hooker? Robot
When I made labor key
To my identity
I never dreamed I’d be
Replaced by a robot
So now I’m lost at sea
Drowned in uncertainty
I’ve been emotionally
Replaced by a robot
Now all my friends and me
Lash out in cruelty
All our humanity
Replaced by a robot
