Louisville, Kentucky!
The “open mic tour” continued in Louisville with Sunday night “Church on the Rocks” at The Monkey Wrench hosted by Troubadours of Divine Bliss and Monday night at the Corner Door (mere blocks from the house I grew up in) hosted by Alanna Fugate. There are so many welcoming, talented people in the world. Monkey wrench gets the award for the loudest appreciative response yet and I hope to return to Corner Door for a split bill performance later this year.
Both places I opened with the Captain Ambivalent theme song and closed with the Thousand Mile Song; at Monkey Wrench I also played “I Dreamed That Supermodel Adriana Lima Was An Amish Girl” and “Are We There Yet”; at Corner Door I played “Pizza Girl.” Extra special thanks to the Bard In Blue for buying CDs at both venues!
Solo Sound
Here are some “back of the room” live recordings from my 5/18/2012 show with the Punkin Holler Boys at the Melody Inn in Indianapolis. You can see other live performances on the ‘Videos‘ page.

Radio! WVLP-LP
My radio debut as part of a radio version of Front Porch’s open mic. I did kinda overload the mics a bit. Oh, well.
I Dreamed That Supermodel Adriana Lima Was An Amish Girl
You know my day job is specialized and technical
Was out of town for training all last week
Studied software every day from eight to five
And on the final night I had a dream
I dreamed that supermodel Adriana Lima was an Amish girl
In a long blue dress buttoned tight saying ‘thou’ and ‘thee’
We’d been courting for a while hadn’t talked about my job yet
She told me if I could explain it to her she would marry me
She said, ‘How is it more than idle vanity?’
(I couldn’t answer)
‘How does it benefit society?’
(I couldn’t answer)
‘How does it keep thy soul from sin?’
I could not answer yet again
So I tried to make analogies between computers and farming
But they’re not simple they’re not humble they contribute to global warming
My day job failed the Amish test
Ah but playing the accordion is really what I like best
She said, ‘How is that more than idle vanity?’
(I couldn’t answer)
‘Is thy accordion plain or sparkly?’
(I couldn’t answer)
I’m so screwed now I’m so screwed now
She said I’d have to give it all up and learn to plough
I dreamed that supermodel Adriana Lima was an Amish girl
In a long blue dress instead of lingerie or less
I woke up thinking ‘Adriana, maybe we’re both off track
And we should head for Pennsylvania arm in arm and not look back
I dreamed that supermodel Adriana Lima was an Amish girl…
